  • How do I register for a medical marijuana card in Florida?

    1. Book Your Consultation – Call us or schedule your consultation here on our website. One of our staff members will help you determine whether medical cannabis is right for you.

    2. Gather Supporting Documentation – Talk to your primary care physician to access your medical records. When you visit Cannabis and Wellness, please bring a form of government ID and proof of Florida residence.

    3. Attend Your Consultation – During your consultation, we will take you step-by-step through the Florida registration process.

    4. Apply for Your Card – Once registration is complete, we will help you submit the proper paperwork to apply for your medical marijuana card.

  • How do I renew my medical marijuana card in Florida?

    To renew your medical marijuana card, schedule an appointment with one of our providers. At your appointment, your provider will help you renew your card. Please note that a Florida medical marijuana card is valid for 7 months from its issue date.

  • How often do I have to renew my medical marijuana card?

    In Florida, a medical marijuana card is valid for 7 months after the date it is issued, unless the provider specifies an earlier date. But if you sign up for our monthly plan, we’ll send you a reminder to schedule your card renewal appointment. We’ll even waive the re-evaluation visit fee!

  • How long do medical marijuana evaluations take?

    In general, evaluations take less than 30 minutes, but the duration of your appointment may vary.

  • How much does the state of Florida charge for a medical marijuana card?

    $75 annually

  • What should I bring to my appointment?

    You will need to have a valid form of government ID and proof of Florida residency. You should also bring any medical records or supporting documents that detail your qualifying condition, including office notes, X-rays, and other pertinent records.

  • Does my condition qualify for medical marijuana in Florida?

    The following medical conditions or their treatment qualify for participation in the Florida Medical Cannabis Program:


    • cancer
    • Parkinson’s disease
    • Huntington’s disease
    • muscular dystrophy
    • glaucoma
    • spastic quadriplegia
    • positive status for human
    • immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
    • acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS)
    • hepatitis
    • amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
    • Crohn’s disease
    • ulcerative colitis
    • sickle-cell anemia
    • Alzheimer’s disease
    • agitation of dementia
    • post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
    • autism
    • pain refractory to appropriate opioid
    • management
    • diabetic/peripheral neuropathy
    • spinal cord disease or severe injury

    Also qualifying is a chronic, terminal, or debilitating disease or medical condition or its treatment that produces one or more of the following:


    • cachexia or wasting syndrome
    • chronic pain
    • severe or intractable nausea
    • seizures
    • severe and persistent muscle spasms including, but not limited to, those characteristic of multiple sclerosis
  • Where can I use medical marijuana in Florida?

    Qualifying patients may use medical marijuana in their homes and on private property where the owner permits it. Check the local ordinances in your city for more details.

  • Can I buy edibles with my medical marijuana card?

    Yes! Patients who qualify may be eligible to purchase edibles. Talk to your provider for options.

  • If I don’t have medical records, can I still qualify?

    Yes! Please contact us on how to proceed. We can request medical records at the time of your evaluation as necessary.

  • What if my application to the Florida Department of Health is incomplete or contains incorrect information?

    If your application is incomplete or incorrect, it will be turned down. The FDOH has 30 days to approve your application once you’ve made accurate revisions. The truth and accuracy of your application is very important. Cannabis and Wellness will help you make sure your application is correct and complete from the start.

  • Will medical marijuana be covered by my insurance?

    No. A managed care organization, health benefit plan, private insurer, government medical assistance program, employer, property and casualty or workers’ compensation insurer, or self-insured group providing coverage for a medical, pharmacy, or health care service is NOT required by the FMCA to pay for or reimburse any other person or entity for expenses related to the medical use of cannabis.

  • Can I use medical marijuana or smoke it in public?

    No. The FMCA forbids public consumption, which includes smoking medicinal marijuana in a public setting or a motor vehicle. Please note that “smoking” refers to all forms of medical cannabis inhalation, including vaping.

  • Can medical marijuana be administered to a cannabis patient at school?

    Yes. Just as with medical prescriptions, schools, daycare centers, and temporary care providers are allowed to provide medical cannabis to authorized patients.

  • Can I be fired from my job because I use medical marijuana?

    Yes. Simply put, the FMCA does not mandate that any employer permit the use of medicinal cannabis for medical reasons. For this reason, the State of Florida highly advises that you discuss medical cannabis use policy with your employer.

  • Who will have access to My Registry ID card ?

    Your card information is accessible to the FMMC. Law enforcement professionals can only confirm your certification as a bearer of a card. Information regarding the number of purchases you make each week will be accessible to a dispensary.
